Moss To Patriots; Gordon Surpasses Earnhardt

So Randy Moss ended up with the New England Patriots? Think he'll make a nice battery mate to Tom Brady? I think so. If Moss walks Belichick's straight line (and that's a big if), the Patriots are going to have a very good year.

On the NASCAR front, many are chastising Jeff Gordon for surpassing Dale Earnhardt's win total (and for flying a #3 flag last week when he tied Earnhardt on the all-time win list). Gordon's move was classy (just as Dale Jr. described it). And, like him or hate him, Gordon deserves some respect for the professionalism and consistency he's brought to auto racing's highest levels of competition.

Preparing To Move

Time's in short supply. We're preparing to move, so between running the businesses, showing the current house and making plans for the new home, there hasn't been opportunity for much else.

About the biggest decision we've had to make (after the selection of the actual house) regards bedding. Our current bed (Sealy Posturepedic) served us well, but it's almost 11 years old and the time is right to replace it. We were going to go with another conventional coil mattress, but I made the mistake of resting on one of the showroom's foam models.

There's no going back. I'm looking forward to the new foam bed's arrival.

Meanwhile, if you know anyone who's seeking a really nice ranch in a great part of town...

Kurt Vonnegut Passes at 84

Will there ever be another author like Kurt Vonnegut? Likely not.

The irreverent author stood a head above contemporaries. Some of his later books lost some luster, but I found Man Without A Country particularly intriguing. It'd make a great tribute if you found time to go and give it a read in his memory.

He'll be missed.

Computer Troubleshooters Virus Warning

A new virus, convincing in its appearance, is apparently causing trouble for some organizations.

The offending worm arrives in an unsolicited e-mail message posing as an ironically unique invitation from Microsoft to download a beta version of Internet Explorer 7.0. As I wrote in an e-mail message to my clients today, please encourage employees/family members from clicking on the links/images within e-mail messages.

The e-mail message itself appears to come from admin @ microsoft.com, while the subject line reads Internet Explorer 7 Downloads. The e-mail includes an image inviting users to download Beta 2. Those who click on the image are directed to a download called ie7.0, which packs the W32Grum-A worm virus. If loaded, the file infects Windows systems, may track user information and may work to establish a network of other infected systems.

More information is available at SecurityWatch.
